Encouragement is one of the most important educational methods in the Islamic educational and training system, which has been emphasized in the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Tradition. This educational method, by influencing the internal and external motivations of man, plays an important role in guiding behavior and forming moral and religious personality. The present study, with an analytical-descriptive approach, examines various methods of encouragement in the Quran and narrations and analyzes its educational effects in two dimensions, individual and social. Findings of this study show that the Holy Quran has used methods such as promising rewards, giving good news, strengthening self-esteem, introducing superior role models, and verbal encouragement to encourage people to do good deeds. In the Prophetic Tradition, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Ahlul Bayt (AS) have also used various methods such as practical encouragement, financial gifts, social respect, and verbal appreciation to strengthen positive behaviors. Also, a comparative study of these methods with educational psychology approaches shows that Islam, in addition to strengthening external motivations, emphasizes the creation of internal motivation and the institutionalization of moral values. The results of this research can be used in contemporary educational and training systems to improve incentive methods.
